Just thought of a cool workflow idea I'd like to share with you:
So, with our Automation, you can create workflows that update fields in SugarCRM with information you input as an operator. For example, you can use the Update Field action to update the Title [text] field in SugarCRM with 'Vice President'.
You have leads with the First Name[text] field in SugarCRM not populated. Now, you can either try to direct them to a Landing Page where one of the forms requests them to give their First Name. Unless you make the form field required to submit. There's only one issue with that though; there's no guarantee that leads will fill out the Landing Page.
Now when creating emails, we allow you to input personalization tags. You can input [firstname] into your emails so that when the email is sent out, the system will pull the info from the first name field in Sugar so the emails will look personal. Now, if you have nothing inside the First Name field, then the tag won't work for that recipient.
By creating a workflow to update fields that have no information in them, you will have at least something in there for records who have either not provided for you or you never been given it. So let's start.
Click on Automation, which will take you to the Automated Campaign Manager, and click on Add Automated Campaign. Select your users, and then you'll be taken to the condition wizard. You're going to select Data Field. Under the operators, name it and select the appropriate [text] field and then select the operator NULL. It should look like this.
For this example, I used the Title [text] field. Now, the next step, you'll add an action, set your wait connector, then you'll see the action wizard. You're going to be looking for the update field action, and select it. Here you'll appropriately name it, and input what you'd like the field updated to. It looked like this for me.
So, when I activate the workflow, whatever record in my Lead's module has no information in the Title [text] field, the system will automatically update that field with 'Loyal Customer'. So what can I do with this?
Now, to go back to our example, you can use the same workflow to update name. So when you go to create an email campaign, and use the [firstname] personalization tag (and let's assume you input 'Loyal Customer' in the first name field) then when recipients who have no first name receive the email, it would look like
"Dear Loyal Customer"
Hope this tip helps. Happy Hunting!
