A Preference Center allows each of your recipients to easily change their own subscription settings, as well as their name and email address.
A Preference Center makes it easy for any of your subscribers to modify how you communicate with them without the need to completely unsubscribe from your email campaigns. It's also a great way to reduce email churn (the number of emails in your list that become inactive). On average, 15-25% of all valid email addresses are discarded each year as people move to a different ISP, change jobs, etc.
With the Preference Center your subscribers have total control over the message content and newsletters they want to receive from you.
How do I start using the Preference Center?
To get started, hover over Settings--->Advanced Settings--->Preference Center [Email Marketer]
Then, click the Enable Preference Center button
Next, you can personalize your preference center with a welcome message for your subscribers. If you've personalized your account with your own logo for landing and confirmation pages, it will appear at the top of your preference center. If you would like to customize your preference center with your logo, just visit Customization Options under Settings to upload your logo.
Now you'll need to select which subscriber lists you would like to have displayed in your preference center. Any lists selected will be visible to your subscriber when they visit the preference center to manage their settings. If a list is visible, then your subscriber can subscribe to it.
We'll automatically display the subscriber list that was assigned to a campaign, so that your recipient will have the option to unsubscribe. If a subscriber selects to never receive emails from you again, they're automatically added to your global suppression list. The global suppression list prevents those recipients from becoming active subscribers again on all current or future lists.
Any changes to settings by your subscriber via the preference center are performed in real-time.
If you're using our SugarCRM integration then you'll enjoy some additional functionality with your preference center. You can now allow your targets and customers to opt-in or opt-out of specific target lists (that you select to be visible). This is an awesome benefit for SugarCRM administrators, because with the native campaigns module you do not have an intuitive method that would allow your customers to select different newsletters and communication settings. With the native campaign module in Sugar, customers can basically only opt to receive all your messages or receive none at all. By leveraging a preference center with SugarCRM you can enable your targets and customers to specify which newsletters and messages they want to receive, by selecting different target lists to subscribe to.
How does it work?
1. Select any target list(s) that you want to have visible in your preference center.
2. Selected target list(s) will now be visible to any SugarCRM target or customer that visits their preference center.
3. If a target or customer subscribes to any of your visible target lists, we automatically add them to that target list in your CRM.
4. If a target or customer unsubscribes from any visible target lists, we automatically remove them from those target lists in your CRM.
5. If a target or customer prefers to never receive any future emails from you, we automatically flag their record as 'opted-out' in your CRM. As a reference, inBOX25 does not import/send campaigns to any record that is flagged as 'opted-out' or 'invalid' in your CRM.
How do I give my subscribers access to the preference center?
Access to the preference center begins with the receipt of an email campaign and each preference center is custom to the particular subscriber or target (in the case of SugarCRM). A link to the preference center for your subscriber will be contained in every single email message sent. Once you activate the preference center you can personalize the text label for the link that appears in your campaign messages by visiting Unsubscribe Options.
The new personalization tag for the preference center is: [preferences]
What else changes when I use the preference center?
Replacement for one-click unsubscribe: Once the preference center is enabled it replaces our one-click unsubscribe functionality. Or in other words, users will only be able to opt-out of your messages by clicking to manage their preferences from a campaign.
Disabling Automatic Transfer for Suppression List: In order to use the preference center we must also automatically disable the 'Automatic Transfer to Suppression' function for unsubscribe handling. Since subscribers can now maintain their subscriptions on a list-by-list basis using the preference center, we wouldn't want to remove them from all lists, simply because they opted out of a single list. As an added benefit though, your subscriber can now choose to be removed from ALL messages.
